Cantilever Chair

This project was for a furniture design elective. I wanted to attempt something that would be different to traditionally made wood and metal furniture as well as technically challenging.
All of the chair parts were printed on hobby sized home printers, meaning that the overall body was split into 180 individual pieces as well as 60 spacers. This took over 12kg of filament and 1000 hours of printing.
The result was a unique, visually interesting and appealing 3D printed full scale useable cantilever chair.
Up to 20 individual 3D printed parts were joined, glued and screwed together to make each of the 16 Chair pieces. Round spacers were then screwed into place in between each chair piece, to ensure a perfect connection and space between parts
